The questions people ask before they ring.
Including the two most people are slightly too polite to ask — whether “open 24 hours” on a Google listing means anything, and how long this company has actually existed. Both are answered plainly.
Q.Are you really open 24 hours?
The Google listing and the business's own site both say open 24 hours, seven days a week, and that is meant as emergency availability rather than a staffed office. Indrit is one person. Ring at three in the morning with a burst pipe and he will answer if he possibly can; ring at three in the morning about a new bathroom and you will get a call back at a civilised hour.
Q.Which number should I ring — the landline or the mobile?
Either reaches the same plumber. 01582 291941 is the landline listed on Google. 07311 111602 is the mobile, and it is the better one if you want to send a photo by text or WhatsApp before anyone comes out.
Q.Is First Plumbing a proper limited company?
Yes. First Plumbing Ltd is registered at Companies House as company number 14582300, incorporated on 10 January 2023, and it is active, with Indrit Dara as sole director. You can check that yourself in under a minute on the Companies House website — and you should, for any trade you are about to let into your home.
Q.How long have you been plumbing?
The limited company was incorporated in January 2023. Indrit's own time in the trade goes back further than that — the business describes more than five years of professional experience providing domestic plumbing across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire — but the company itself is the younger of the two, and it is worth being clear about which number is which.
Q.What counts as a plumbing emergency?
Anything actively causing damage or leaving a home unsafe or unusable: a burst pipe or a leak you cannot stop, no heating or hot water in cold weather, a blocked or overflowing toilet in a one-bathroom house, or a drain backing up. If you can smell gas, that is not a plumber's call — leave the building and ring the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 first.
Q.Do you do whole bathrooms, or only the plumbing?
Whole bathrooms. New installations, refurbishments and repairs are a core part of the business — Paul Rayburn's Google review covers two bathrooms done back to back. Tell Indrit what you have in mind and he will tell you what is realistic in the space you have.
Q.Can you find a leak you cannot see?
Water leak detection is on the service list, and it is one of the more valuable things a plumber does — a stain on a ceiling is almost never directly under the leak. The job is tracing it to the actual failure before anything gets cut open, rather than taking a wall apart hopefully.
Q.Do you work for landlords and letting agents?
Yes — rented property is the same work with more paperwork and tighter access windows. Repairs, bathroom refits and heating work are all covered, and the 24-hour availability is the part tenants actually notice.
